Whilst we will all probably feel that in some way we need to get children to ‘catch up’ having missed a large chunk of their early education entitlement, we must acknowledge the impact of the restrictions on them and the effects of the stresses that their families have been through. Our professional duty is to consider and address their developmental needs as they present to us. That is the only way to secure their future progress.
