Establishing a professional partnership with the child’s previous setting can only help to make transition easier
It is quite possible that some of the children in your new cohort have already benefited from early years education at a previous setting. Remember, child minders are also settings providing the EYFS and it is just as important to work with them as with group settings. If you have the capacity to begin a long term partnership with local settings then liaison becomes a process rather than an event and each year the information sharing becomes easier, more open and helpful.
